Obeying Orders

For those who were ever in the military: if your commanding officer were to give you a facially lawful general order that you were to perform certain specific actions every time certain specific conditions were fulfilled, you would have obeyed that order without fail so long as you had physical ability to obey, right?

If so, then can there be a principled objection to obeying the Savior's commandment that we shall give to every man that asks us, just to pick one commandment that is specific, actionable, categorical, and given in triplicate?  See Luke 6:30, Matthew 5:42, and 3 Nephi 12:42.

Is not the substance of the earth his?  And are you not merely a steward over your possessions?  Therefore what could possibly justify your insubordination to his command?
